Target Opens Tribeca Store

Smaller format store in New York

Target (Minneapolis) has opened a new smaller-than-usual store in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood in Manhattan. The store is 45,000 square feet in size, compared with the retailer’s typical store size of at least 120,000 square feet.

This is one of four small-format stores the company has recently opened in urban areas as an attempt to boost flagging sales and spread its operation into more urban areas, reports USA Today.

Each of these smaller stores is designed to cater to the tastes and needs of the individual neighborhoods where it is located. For instance, in the store that opened in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood, it features a section with fresh, organic groceries and has an emphasis on wellness and fashion products. It also is decorated with a graffiti-like mural that was drawn with a felt-tip marker.
