Safety within The Home Depot stores was the target of an undercover “Inside Edition” investigation that aired November 28.

Home Depot has reportedly been sued, due to falling merchandise in its stores, 68 times within one 18-month period.

Three deaths have occurred, allegedly the result of the high-traffic, warehouse-style environment. One of these fatalities occurred in late 1999. A 79-year-old woman was crushed in a Los Angles store by a falling pallet. Another fatality involved a three-year old child.

Investigators for the television news program took hidden cameras into several stores in six states to find out what lengths the Atlanta-based home improvement materials retailer was taking to protect its customers. A Home Depot spokesperson stated on air that the company was continuing to improve in-store safety.
