VMSD Presents Design Excellence Awards

Three honored, plus Rising Star, at annual PAVE gala in New York


During the annual PAVE gala, held last night at the Metropolitan Pavilion, VMSD presented its seventh annual Excellence in Visual Merchandising and Design in New York awards. VMSD associate publisher and executive editor Kristin Godsey and New York editor Eric Feigenbaum honored Kathy Mucciolo for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tom Beebe for Paul Stuart and Michael Ferrera accepting for Jack Hruska for Bloomingdale’s with winning crystal apples.

The evening’s festivities also included the presentation of PAVE’s third annual Rising Star Award, which goes to the “young individual who has demonstrated talent, vision and implementation in the retail environment.”

Travis Burnham, creative services manager, J. Crew, took home this year’s honor, presented by 2008 winner Rachel Zsembery of Bergmeyer Associates. Robyn Novak, director, interior design, FRCH Design Worldwide, and Stacy Suvino, visual director, Miss Jackson’s, were also nominated.

Judges for this year’s award included: James Bellante, group vp, visual merchandising, Macy’s; Kristin Godsey, VMSD; Nancy Jackson, president, Architectural Systems Inc.; Ed Jankowski, senior vp/general manager, North America, Godiva Chocolatier Inc.; and Brad Somberg, president, B&N Industries.
