Walmart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.) has reportedly joined The Russian Retail Association, a lobbying organization. The move is seen as yet another indication of the world’s largest retailer laying the groundwork to enter the Russian market.
“Walmart is working on the Russian market,” Ilya Belonovskiy, the executive director of the industry group, told the Reuters news organization.
In April, Walmart appointed an executive to head its efforts to explore business opportunities in Russia and neighboring markets.
