Wawa Inc. has entered the Florida market with a new prototype in Orlando. Designed by CBX (New York), the Wawa, Pa.-based fuel and convenience store operator plans to open four locations in Orlando in the coming weeks.
The new 4600-square-foot Orlando store is intended to reflect the local architecture with pastel colors, clapboard siding and pitched roof on the exterior. Interior touches include warm taupe wall tile, red drum shades over the coffee area and at the beverage coolers, an open layout, high ceilings and natural lighting.
“While the new design style is uniquely Floridian, every other visual reference is recognizably Wawa,” says Joseph Bona, president, CBX retail division, which designed the prototype with local architects and engineers Cuhaci & Peterson.
