Environmental Interior Designer
Upshot is starting to look for a multi-faceted Environmental Interior Designer (Art Director Level) (graphic design experience is a plus) to join a small team of retail environmental designers that work across all client teams within a marketing agency.
The candidate we’re looking for must be able to clearly and thoughtfully communicate design intent to internal and external client teams.
Responsibilities may include:
- Developing technical design development drawings to communicate with clients and vendors
- Act as support in bringing concept design to implementation through development drawings, material sourcing, vendor concepts, environmental graphics and signage
- Develop close relationships with production team to ensure seamless transition of projects to art directors
- Design concepting related to store design, brand identity, environmental graphics, trade shows, in-store displays and graphic design
- Material selection, sourcing and library upkeep
- Problem solving and value engineering designs to fit within client budgets
- Fixture design and development for brand and shopper environments
- Display development in grocery, convenience and mass stores
Requirements:
- Must have retail design and/or tradeshow design experience
- Architecture or Interior Design Degree
- 2-5 years experience
- AutoCAD proficient
- 3D rendering program proficient (Sketchup mandatory, additional programs preferred)
- Millwork shop drawing and detailing preferred
- Keen attention to detail as necessary
- Adobe Suite proficient (CS3+)
- Graphic design ability preferred (please include in portfolio submission)
- Ability to read architectural construction drawings
- Word and Excel proficient
- Materials and processes specification understanding
- Hand drawing / sketching capability preferred
