The first U.S. Apple computer vendor shop, on San Francisco's Market Street, was designed to relieve some of the first-time computer-buying stress. Located in a CompUSA store, the shop occupies 1000 square feet and has its own entrance on Market Street. The unit's nine-window frontage features large graphics and a preview of the merchandise inside. Divided into four sections for laptop, desktop, consumer and professional products, the store features interactive displays with Internet-ready iMacs on powdercoated metal and translucent acrylic fixtures. Merchandise is presented in the same way as it is advertised, lighted from below through internally illuminated counters, creating a glowing effect.
