Holiday Gourmet Shop
Holt Renfrew, Toronto
Holt Renfrew used color, chandeliers and topiaries to create a destination for all things seasonal inside its Holiday Gourmet Shop. Judged commented on the nice controlled use of color that didn’t overwhelm the festive presentation. “I like how they brought color up to the chandelier,” said a judge.
The use of topiaries on the display tables created a “clean, consistent” look that added to the simple yet strong seasonal display.

Art of Denim
The Bay, Toronto
Art met fashion in The Bay’s denim display for spring. Three-dimensional sculptures and artwork canvases, including a denim-inspired “The Thinker,” were crafted from various colored dyes of denim fabric. These “works” were presented in gallery-like settings, complete with dramatic lighting and stanchions like one would find in a real gallery.
Schlappi mannequins, adorned in the celebrated fabric, admired the artful display while holding gallery pamphlets that slyly displayed the name of the denim brand each was wearing.

What a Wonderful World
Macy’s North
Flower power transformed Macy’s spring windows into a striking display entitled, “What a Wonderful World.” In one set of windows, mannequins adorned in neutral-colored fashions were shown among crisp white-paper posies mounted on an aqua blue wall. Laser-cut paper was fashioned into a dramatic skirt and wig.
Other windows featured oversized 3-D flower balls and a mannequin rotating on a 6-foot flower base. For the colorful, warm-weather fashions, mannequins were featured with vibrant paper parasols and lanterns. Filigree scrolling on the windows tied in with the paper-theme.
“I love how the paper lace integrates with the window decals,” commented a judge. Another said, “You really see what they’re saying with the fashion.”

Love Talk
Shreve, Crump & Low, Boston
Shreve, Crump & Low communicated its “Love Talk” message for Valentine’s Day using old-fashioned plumed pens, antique typewriters and a 1920s telephone. In one photo, the word “adore” emanated from an Underwood typewriter, while a gold and diamond cuff and diamond rings sat on the keys. In another, a heart-shaped telephone cord wrapped two diamond pendants. Filtered lighting and feathered plums on the backwall added to the dramatic display.
