Retailer’s sales beat September plan

Published

on

Target Corp. (Minneapolis) has reported a 12.5 percent increase in net retail sales from continuing operations (principally Target Stores) for the five weeks ended Oct. 2, 2004. Same-store sales increased 5.6 percent.

“Sales at Target Stores were above plan for the month of September,” said chairman and ceo Bob Ulrich.

Target will be stipulating “continuing operations” in its financial reports this year to account for the sale during the year of its Marshall Field’s department store division to The May Department Store Co. (St. Louis). Its reports focus on its 1272 Target stores.
