Sporting goods chain sets fall openings for eight stores

Academy Sports + Outdoors (Katy, Texas), has opened three new locations: in Boardman, Ohio; Beaufort, S.C.; and Virginia Beach, Va. In coming months, the full-line sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer says it will open eight more stores in the following cities:

* Albany, Ga.
* Batesville, Miss.
* Columbia, Tenn.
* Cullman, Ala.
* Lakeland, Fla.
* Mishawaka, Ind.
* Palestine, Texas
* Rome, Ga.

The chain’s 300-plus stores offer athletic and casual shoes, sports and outdoors equipment and clothing from such high-profile brands as Nike, Jordan Brand, adidas, Carhartt, YETI, Stanley, Marucci, Titleist, Shimano, Brooks, Blackstone, Owala and others.

Thus far this year, Academy has opened 11 new stores, with plans to open up to 25 new locations during its current fiscal year.
