Deep Six Kava Bar has opened in King of Prussia, Pa., offering “a unique experience for those seeking a refreshing alternative to traditional alcoholic beverages,” its backers said in a news release. The bar specializes in kava, a beverage derived from the roots of the kava plant, known for its mood elevation, relieving social anxiety and relaxing properties.

“We’re thrilled to open Deep Six Kava Bar and introduce the community to the many benefits of kava and other alcohol alternatives,” said Founder Nick Kruczaj. “Our mission is to create a welcoming space for everyone, whether you’re sober-curious, health-conscious, or simply looking for a new beverage experience. We believe that enjoying a drink doesn’t have to involve alcohol, and we’re excited to offer a range of options that cater to various tastes and lifestyles.”

Its backers say the ambiance of Deep Six Kava Bar is designed to foster a sense of community and connection by providing comfortable seating and ambient lighting. It will also host regular events such as kava tastings, wellness workshops and live music nights.

Editor’s note: per a recent article on Shop!, the growth of alcohol-free drinkers among younger workers is also having an impact on traditional bars and their happy hours.
