Apple (Cupertino, Calif.) is opening a new store in Rome. Dubbed “Apple Via del Corso,” the store is near the Piazza San Silvestro public square in the historic Palazzo Marignoli, according to a company press release.

Connected by a grand staircase built around 1888 and restored using carrara marble, the restoration project spans two floors in the building originally constructed in 1873. At its center, a courtyard houses native Camphora trees. On the first floor, an exterior landscaped terrace featuring olive trees and jasmine vines, accessed through a set of four doors, overlooks the courtyard.

The upper floor hosts the retailer’s Genius Bar and Apple Support underneath a geometric-patterned, hand-painted ceiling, restored by a team of conservators spanning thousands of hours, according to Apple.

The upper floor also features the Forum area where the company plans to host “Today at Apple” (free sessions focusing on photography, coding, music, video and more) and “Made in Rome” sessions. The “Made in Rome” programs are curated sessions led by more than 40 local artists encompassing art and design, content creation, video and music, aimed at supporting local communities across the city.

The new store officially opens its doors in Rome May 27.
