Apple to Open Third Store in India

Apple (Cupertino, Calif.) will open its third store in India on Sept. 2, in the Phoenix Asia Mall in the southern city of Bengaluru (Bangalore). Named after its surrounding neighborhood, Apple Hebbal joins the brand’s two other stores in the country, in Mumbai and Delhi.

Hebbal has a rapidly developing tech sector, making it a desirable home for IT workers and their families, according to Visit Bangalore.in.

“We’re delighted to open Apple Hebbal, a community hub that celebrates Bengaluru’s spirit of innovation,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s SVP of Retail and People. “We can’t wait to connect with people here and inspire them to create, collaborate and do amazing things with Apple. We’re excited to continue to bring Apple experiences to customers across India, who inspire us with their creativity and passion.”

As with virtually all Apple stores, the latest one features an open layout with products on light-wood tables, a Genius Bar along a wall for assistance and a dedicated pickup area.

While the company has not disclosed specifically how many other locales it plans for India, CEO Tim Cook said during a recent earnings call that it expects to open “multiple new stores” in the country this year, The Times of India reported. Worldwide, it has 520-plus locales.
