Athleta (San Francisco) has announced a “long-term” partnership with decorated gymnast Simone Biles, according to a company press release. Biles had been partnered with Nike (Beaverton, Ore.) from 2015 until recently.

In addition to working on capsule collections for Athleta Girl, Biles will also be creating her own activewear line.

Athleta has signed on former Nike-sponsored athletes before, including Allyson Felix in 2019 as the brand’s first sponsored athlete. Felix spoke out against Nike’s reported treatment of pregnant athletes.

In a press release, Biles said: “Using my voice has been very empowering for me and I am grateful to embark on this new journey with Athleta to inspire young girls and women to do the same.”
