Belk Reportedly Close to Bankruptcy, Restructuring

Department store retailer Belk (Charlotte, N.C.) is reportedly close to filing bankruptcy protection under a plan that would offer lenders a financial stake in the company, reports Bloomberg.

Last week, according to a Wall Street Journal report, Belk was nearing a deal that would allow it to avoid bankruptcy. According to the Bloomberg report, terms are not final and are still subject to change.
