Best Buy Co. Inc. (Richfield, Minn.) has promoted Barry Judge to executive vp. Judge, who’s driven the consumer electronics retailer’s social media use, will also retain his title as chief marketing officer.

Best Buy ceo Brian Dunn says Judge has helped encourage Best Buy’s employees to use social media across multiple brands and channels to create stronger customer relationships. His promotion “reflects his responsibility for global management of Best Buy’s portfolio of brands and his oversight of Best Buy’s global marketing efforts,” Dunn said in a statement.

Judge joined Best Buy’s e-commerce team in 1999 and helped launch BestBuy.com. In 2006, he was named senior vp, marketing.

The company also announced the promotion of Tim Sheehan to executive vp, enterprise retail operations. Sheehan, who was previously senior vp, customer experience creation, is leading a multi-year effort to build operations to support the retailer’s global growth agenda.
