Burdining

A Cosi restaurant in a Burdines-Macy’s store, developed under a partnership between Federated Department Stores (Cincinnati) and Cosi Inc. (Deerfield, Ill.), will open today at the Dadeland Mall store in Miami. Plans also are in the works for two more Cosi-Federated projects in Florida: a coffee kiosk in the Burdines-Macy’s Aventura men’s and home store and a Cosi restaurant in Burdines-Macy’s store at The Falls. Both are slated to open later this month.

Additionally, a Cosi restaurant will open at the Burdines-Macy’s Plantation Fashion Mall in late November and at the Burdines-Macy’s Aventura women’s and kids’ store following completion of renovations in spring 2005.

Cosi operates more than 80 restaurants in 11 states in the Northeast and Midwest and the District of Columbia, but the Burdines-Macy’s locations are Cosi’s first in the state of Florida.

“We are very pleased to provide this new service to our customers so they can ‘rest and refresh’ when shopping without having to leave our store,” said Carey Watson, Cosi senior vp, director of marketing. “This announcement is extra special because the opening marks a first for Cosi in Florida and we are excited to introduce our customers to Cosi’s distinctive, high-quality food and comfortable, relaxed atmosphere.”

In March, Federated and Cosi announced an agreement to open 10 Cosi restaurants within some of the largest Macy’s-branded stores, including locations in Seattle, Atlanta, Miami and Memphis.
