California Pizza Heads to Taiwan

Signs franchise agreement for six restaurants by 2016

California Pizza Kitchen Inc. (Los Angeles) has signed an agreement franchise partner Quanta Foods to expand its restaurant chain into Taiwan with a minimum of six California Pizza Kitchen restaurants planned over the next 5 years.

“Quanta Foods has a great success record in Taiwan and we are pleased to partner with them on this venture,” says Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, co-founders and co-ceos of California Pizza Kitchen.

Quanta Foods has been in the restaurant business for over twenty years and has worked with such brands as McDonald’s, TGI Friday’s and Outback Steakhouse.

Founded in 1985, California Pizza Kitchen operates 265 restaurants, of which 205 are company-owned and 60 operate under franchise or license agreements. As part of its global expansion, the company has 35 international restaurants, including in China, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, South Korea, Guam, India, Indonesia and United Arab Emirates.
