Two high-profile brands have named new leaders. They are:

Panera Brands Inc. (St. Louis), which has named Paul Carbone CEO. Carbone previously served as CFO of the operator of the Panera Bread, Einstein Bros. and Caribou Coffee brands.

He was appointed to the company’s top role on an interim basis in January with the exit of Jose Dueñas.

“Paul’s commitment and significant contributions to Panera over the past two years – coupled with his impressive track record of success with both public and private companies in the industry – demonstrate that he has both the experience and the vision to lead the company through a period of transformation,” said Patrick Grismer, Board Chair of Panera Brands.

Said Carbone: “I look forward to working with the team to execute a strategic multi-year plan focused on building great teams, delivering an exceptional guest experience and driving franchise profitability.”

Panera includes 2200 bakery-cafes operating under its flagship brand, along with about 700 more bagel-oriented locales operating Einstein Bros., Bruegger’s, Noah’s New York and Manhattan Bagel, and the 800-unit Caribou Coffee chain.

And

Carter’s Inc. (Atlanta), whose holdings include the Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh brands, has hired Douglas Palladini as its President, CEO and Board Member. Palladini, formerly a longtime executive at V.F. Corp.’s Vans unit, will take the reins at the 1000-store seller of apparel for babies and young children on April 3.

“Under Doug’s leadership, Carter’s will continue to innovate, strengthen our unique, multi-channel business model, and stay true to our mission of providing high-quality, affordable apparel for young children,” William Montgoris, Non-Executive Board Chairman.

Said Palladini: “I am eager to continue to advance the important work underway in our retail and wholesale businesses, further build upon Carter’s brand equity and create lasting connections with our customers through accelerated relevance, inspiring products and meaningful storytelling.”
