Neiman Marcus, the Dallas-based luxury retailer that is the 2004 winner of the VM+SD/Peter Glen Retailer of the Year Award, will open a new store at SouthPark in Charlotte, N.C.

The 80,000-square-foot, two-level space is scheduled to open in the fall of 2006.

“Neiman Marcus is very excited to become a part of the Charlotte community, and join the strong lineup of tenants at SouthPark,” said Wayne Hussey, Neiman’s senior vp of properties. “We look forward to having a strong presence in another successful Simon property.”

The store will be the retailer’s eighth in collaboration with Simon Property Group (Indianapolis), developer of the mall.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Neiman Marcus to SouthPark,” said Richard Sokolov, president and coo of SPG. “Their presence makes SouthPark the luxury shopping destination in the Carolinas.”

Neiman Marcus will receive its award in September, during VM+SD’s International Retail Design Conference (IRDC). Ignaz Gorischek, the retailer’s vp, visual planning and presentation, will accept and give a presentation on Neiman’s history, style and plans.
