New York flagship, Middle East partnership on horizon

Accessories retailer Charming Charlie (Houston), with 330 storefronts throughout the U.S., is entering the New York market next spring. The April 2015 opening of a Manhattan flagship, on highly visible Fifth Avenue near the New York Public Library, is part of the company’s aggressive expansion plans. The 16,000-square-foot store will span three floors and feature a two-story, 30-foot tall glass façade illuminated with LEDs in the brand’s signature hot pink.  The space will also house the company’s press relations office and a showroom, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The company is also adding to its leadership ranks, and has recently named Jody Austin, previously vp of merchandising at Victoria’s Secret and Liz Claiborne, chief merchandising officer. In addition to two locations in Canada, Charming Charlie has also signed partnership agreements with Apparel Group UAE, which will open stores in the Middle East beginning next year.
