The Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. (Secaucus, N.J.) has appointed Natalie Levy senior vp, merchandising; Barrie Scardina senior vp, planning and allocation; Dina Sweeney, senior vp, outlets; and Larry McClure as senior vp, human resources.

The appointments align with the company’s announcement in March that it was focusing on five key initiatives to drive sales and profit for 2010, including strengthening the merchandise and optimizing inventory management, as well as improving its outlet experience.

All four executives bring experience to their new posts with Levy most recently serving as senior vp, general merchandise manager for Ann Taylor. Prior to that, she spent seven years with Lord & Taylor culminating in her appointment as senior vp, general merchandise manager for proprietary brands. Scardina previously held the position of vp, retail operations at Liz Claiborne, responsible for planning and allocation, supply chain, retail marketing and store operations for Partnered Brands.

Sweeney, previously senior vp, merchandising, is a 26-year veteran of The Children's Place. In her new role, she will be responsible for developing and executing a new merchandising strategy to drive sales and profits for the company's 129 outlet stores.  McClure, who joined the company in March, was previously senior vp, human resources at Liz Claiborne.

The children's specialty apparel retailer owns and operates 947 The Children's Place stores.
