’ROUND AND ’ROUND
The indoor/outdoor round bar is made of cast concrete with a smoothly honed top. For the bar surround, the woodgrain pattern on the slab from the casting process was intentionally left intact for contrast. Hand-torched wood planks complete the authentic look.

SIREN SONG
Integrally pigmented concrete was used as flooring throughout the space. Near the bar area, it’s accented by a 12-foot brass inlay of the brewery’s logo, featuring Sola, described as the “mysterious matriarch” of the city of Miami. “Within her penetrating stare, she reveals our secrets, and with her we are the art and authenticity painted upon the soul of Miami,” or so goes the legend, says Chausey Dickinson, director of branding, Edge of Architecture (Coral Gables, Fla.).

I SPY…
Floor-to-ceiling windows allow patrons to view the two-story brewery’s back of house. The brewing area is filled with large copper fermentation tanks and other equipment used to produce an array of year-round and seasonal craft beers.

ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE
Repurposing an old warehouse space into a brewery required the demolition of the existing concrete floor. Rather than dispose of the resulting rubble, the design team recycled the concrete chunks to form a 16-foot feature wall within the bar, referenced by the location’s moniker.

UPCYCLING
Steel gabion cages filled with rubble debris are illuminated by recessed floor up-lighting. The fortified look is carried to the exterior, where courtyard walls are formed by the cages and concrete pieces.
