Two well-established retailers made announcements that will make it increasingly difficult for Americans to lose track of the time.

Sunglass Hut International Inc., bought Watch World International Inc., a 119-store chain that also sells sunglasses and watches over the Internet.

In related news, Tiffany & Co., which sells watches in addition to jewels, plans to open three to five new stores yearly and perhaps double its U.S. 39 locations, in time. The company also plans to open two additional stores in Japan. Currently there are 44 stores there and the Japanese market accounts for 28 percent of Tiffany's total sales.
