Blockbuster Inc. (Dallas) and RadioShack Corp. (Ft. Worth, Texas) have begun their previously announced “RadioShack Cool Things” vendor store program rollout. The shops will be placed in 120 Blockbuster stores this month, including 34 in Las Vegas, 33 in Austin, Texas, 23 in Tulsa, Okla., and 30 in Norfolk, Va. Cool Things shops range from 150 to 600 square feet and feature home electronics, wireless handsets, gadgets and toys. Product displays are interactive.

“RadioShack Cool Things marks another step in our mission to transform Blockbuster stores into complete home entertainment destinations,” said Blockbuster ceo John Antioco. Meanwhile, RadioShack feels it may reach women and younger shoppers more easily by using the Blockbuster venue. The companies plan a nationwide rollout for 2002.

Blockbuster Inc., a subsidiary of Viacom Inc., operates more than 7700 stores globally, RadioShack more than 7100 locations.
