* Buccee’s (Lake Jackson, Texas) will open its first travel center in Ohio on April 6, reports Progressive Grocer. The 75,000-square-foot store, with 120 adjoining gas pumps, will be located just off Interstate 70 in Huber Heights, on Dayton’s north side. The 50-plus unit chain, which has a cult-like following due to such factors as its extensive fresh-food offerings and popular mascot, will also make its debut in North Carolina and Wisconsin next year, PG reports.

* Dillard’s Inc. (Little Rock, Ark.) will soon open a 160,000-square-foot department store in the former Macy’s space in The Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek, an eastern suburb of Dayton. The opening is set for March 19, the Dayton Daily News reports. Dillard’s is one of only a few brands opening new department stores these days; in all, the retailer’s existing fleet consists of 271 stores, including 28 clearance centers, in 30 states.
