Macy’s (New York) has unveiled its holiday collaboration with Disney for this year with two major elements: Disney pop-up shops in 200 department stores and the debut of a Minnie Mouse balloon at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This collaboration marks the latest chapter in a relationship that began with Mickey Mouse’s first Macy’s Parade appearance in 1934.

“We recognize this rich history and are excited to offer our customers this exclusive holiday assortment,” said Macy’s Chief Merchandising Officer Nata Dvir. “This comes to life in dedicated Mickey and Minnie Shops and offers all our customers – from our youngest to our most fashion forward – products and experiences only available at Macy’s.”

Said Chrissy Anderson, VP, North America Brand Commercialization at Disney Consumer Products: “Fans of all ages will have the chance to welcome Minnie Mouse and her signature charm as she makes her debut in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. There’s no better way to mark this milestone than with a limited-edition collection that celebrates her sparkling personality and iconic style.”

Through the New Year, dedicated the Mickey and Minnie Shops will operate at Macy’s Herald Square flagship in New York, and in 200 other of the department store’s locations nationwide. The flagship installation will include a concession stand and interactive AR experience that will let customers see themselves as Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade “balloon handlers.”

The partners say the shops will feature fashion-forward apparel, accessories and one-of-a-kind collectibles for kids and adults, along with new and exclusive Disney artwork by Director of Character Art Jeff Shelly.
