Dolce & Gabbana (Milan) has been fined $440.2 million (€343 million) by an Italian court for tax evasion, according to GMA News Online. The pair was accused of transferring control of their brands to a company in Luxembourg in 2004 and 2005, evading Italian taxes of around $550 million in U.S. currency.

The fashion house plans to appeal the verdict while the payment of any fines would be suspended pending the appeal. They were found to have “violated legislation with the sole objective of procuring a fiscal advantage,” according to GMA News Online.
