Dollar General Fills More Leadership Roles

The retailer has named seven people for various leadership roles

Dollar General (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) has named seven people for various leadership positions throughout the company – from store operations to merchandising – Retail Dive reports.

The new hires include…

  • Tony Rogers taking over as Dollar General’s Chief Marketing Officer
  • Natalie McConnell, with more than 20 years of merchandising experience, will become the Division Merchandising Manager for Holiday, Events, Toys, Lawn and Garden
  • Kaushik Paul will rejoin the company as Division VP of Store Operations and will lead 10 regions covering more than 2100 stores
  • Tim Bartlett has been promoted to the VP of Asset Protection; he was most recently the Division VP for the retailer
  • Matt Frame, formerly of Popshelf, has been promoted to VP of Store Operations; in his new role he will oversee talent strategies, sales and performance optimizations for 2000 stores across 10 states
  • Jimmy Nguyen has been promoted to VP and Division Merchandise Manager of Health and Beauty; he was most recently the Senior Director of Merchandising
  • Brett Sorensen has been appointed to a new role as division VP of Store Operations; he will lead 2300 stores across nine states

Rogers has previously held positions at companies like Signet Jewelers (Akron, Ohio), as well as Bentonville, Ark.-based Walmart and Sam’s Club.

Dollar General opened its 20,000th store in the U.S. this past Feb. and it plans to open an additional 800 locations this year.  Dollar General’s net sales rose 6.1 percent year over year to $9.9 billion during the first quarter.
