Dutch Bros Plans 165 Added Locales in ’24

Dutch Bros Inc. (Grants Pass, Ore.) said it plans to open 165 new drive-thru-only coffee shops during the coming year as part of its long-term goal of operating 4000 locales – it currently has 831. To help manage that growth, the company said it is adding three new executives: Joshua Guenser, CFO; Sumitro Ghosh, President of Operations; and Jess Elmquist, Chief People Officer.

With those additions, longtime Dutch Bros executive Brian Maxwell, currently COO, will transition to Vice Chairman, reporting to Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Travis Boersma.

“We are designing our executive leadership team to support the Dutch Bros mission and vision as we scale and grow to 4000 shops,” said CEO Christine Barone. (The company currently operates 831 locations across 16 states.)

Founded in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma, Dutch Bros began with a double-head espresso machine and a pushcart. While espresso-based beverages are still at the company’s core, Dutch Bros has expanded to offer customizable cold and hot beverages.
