ShopKo names vp, operations and technology; WD Partners designing prototype for Logan’s Roadhouse; Fiorino Design wins awards for airport stores

ShopKo Stores Inc. (Green Bay, Wis.) has named Raymond Petersen vp, operations and technology.

RYA (Dallas retail design and store planning firm) announces these appointments: Claudene Anderson, senior associate and studio director; David Lew, design director; Kelley Moore, senior designer; Andrea Pickens, resource design director; Amanda Bettge, project designer; and Carlos Torres, production manager. Also, at the firm’s San Francisco office, Cristina Martino has been named graphic designer and Jeremy Fong has been hired as marketing operations manager.

Crestron Electronics Inc. (Rockleigh, N.J., manufacturer of control systems, lighting and AV distribution technology) has added Richard Hurst as director, sales and marketing, for lighting control products.

WDG Architecture PLLC/Blue Chair Design (Washington, D.C.) has hired Howard Weiss as director, interior architecture.

Cubellis Associates Inc. (Boston architecture, design and engineering firm) has hired Chad Widdis as a senior electrical designer at its Philadelphia office.

Store Openings/Contracts


WD Partners (Columbus, Ohio, design firm) is developing a new restaurant prototype for Logan’s Roadhouse (Nashville, Tenn.). The first restaurant will be built in 2005, followed by a system-wide rollout. Logan’s Roadhouse operates more than 115 company-owned restaurants in 15 states, with franchised units in four states.

The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (Toronto) has presented design awards to the following retail projects: Award of Excellence to Holt Renfrew, Toronto, by burdifilek; and Honorable Mentions to Telus, Scarborough, Ont., by burdifilek; CBC Showcase Retail Store, Toronto, by Dlb Design; Athlete’s World, Toronto, by Figure 3 Network; and 2 Bloor West Commercial Renewal, Toronto, by B + H.

PSMJ Resources Inc. (Newton, Mass.) has selected the following winners in its 1st annual Design Industry Outstanding CEOs of the Year program: Christopher Huckabee, ceo, Huckabee & Associates Inc. (Fort Worth, Texas), smaller firm category; Timothy O’Connor, president/ceo, RobsonWoese Inc. (Syracuse, N.Y.), medium firm category; Tony Franceschini, president/ceo, Stantec Consulting Inc.
