Sears Canada to open store in Abbotsford

Sears Canada, the Toronto-based multi-channel department store retailer, plans to open a Sears Furniture and Appliances store at Sumas Way Home Centre in Abbotsford, British Columbia, this summer.

The 43,000-square-foot store will be devoted exclusively to furniture, rugs, accent-dŽcor items and major home appliances. Close to 35,000 square feet of floor space will house furniture and related accessories, which is triple the space for furniture traditionally offered in Sears department stores. The other 8000 square feet will be devoted to national-brand major appliances including Maytag, Frigidaire, Whirlpool and Sears Kenmore.

“This Sears store will be the perfect coupling of our successful Whole Home furniture and Brand Central appliance departments,” says Brent Hollister, president, sales, service and store planning, Sears Canada. “By combining the two under one roof, we'll offer an unmatched product selection for the entire home in a single, convenient shopping environment.”
