Abercrombie & Fitch (New Albany, Ohio) plans to reduce the size of its Gilly Hicks intimate-apparel stores. The first Gilly Hicks locations debuted in January 2008, with 18 stores now in operation in the U.S. and one in London.

The store design changes call for trimming 16 stores from 10,000 to 5000 square feet, according to The Columbus Dispatch. The three other locations in the chain already occupy 5000 square feet.

“The biggest takeaway is, the impairment charge does not affect our operating plans for the future of Gilly Hicks,” Eric Cerny, manager of investor relations at Abercrombie, told The Dispatch. “They still stay open for business. It's just that those 16 stores have the larger square footage.”
