WHY GINA?

Gina utilizes a cinematic eye and meticulous execution to one of retail’s most visible stages: the window. A visual merchandising professional at Bloomingdale’s, she oversees video production, prop design and merchandise presentation for the retailer’s iconic window displays, translating marketing campaigns into dynamic street-level storytelling.

From early storyboards to final installation, Gina manages the full creative lifecycle of each display. She develops concepts, produces detailed renderings and coordinates with fabrication partners, carpenters, painters and technical teams to bring complex installations to life, often under tight deadlines. Her strong background in graphic design and motion graphics allows her to integrate digital elements, signage and editorial messaging into cohesive visual narratives that align with broader brand campaigns. The result: windows that are not only visually arresting but also strategically connected to in-store merchandising and marketing initiatives.

Beyond the glass, Gina is equally committed to shaping the future of the industry. As a member of the LIM College Alumni Advisory Board, she mentors students through one-on-one engagement, helps organize student fashion shows and connects emerging talent with professional opportunities. It’s a reflection of the same passion and dedication she brings to every display she creates.

How and why did you get into retail design/visual merchandising?

Completing my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Visual Merchandising at LIM College, I was drawn to large scale visuals, starting my career in sports and entertainment. I always found it vital to keep up with technology, interning at MSG Media, as it’s extremely prevalent in the evolving landscape of visual design. I have always felt drawn to this field and the ability to create beautiful spaces out of nothing.

Who or what has been the greatest influence on you in your work?

My mother was and will always be my greatest influence. Her love and belief in me to always be enough no matter the obstacle propelled me forward, even after her death.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I enjoy about work and my overall career trajectory are the endless possibilities. I have had the privilege to design in arenas, museums and flagship retail stores … the future seems endless for visual designers. The ability to walk down the street, see an empty park, and envision the most engaging art piece is what makes this such a special industry.

What place that you’ve visited has made the biggest impression on you and why?

Berlin for sure from a design perspective, and as a human with so much history. It’s impossible to walk 10 blocks in Berlin without encountering some historic yet beautiful exhibit that portrays life and love and hope.

Describe a recent project that you were proud to be involved with.

A spring campaign I’m currently involved in has been extremely rewarding working with different fabricators and learning different design processes.

My dream project is…

…a global campaign of unity that involves designers of all backgrounds and cultures to collaborate.

The best part of my day is…

…a tie between hugging my cat and having a design approved.
