Harrods Hotels Planned

London retailer to open luxury locales

The Qatari owners of Harrods department store plan to launch a line of hotels bearing the name of the famed London retail emporium, according to several published reports in the U.K. Qatar Holding released a statement saying it is working to open Harrods hotels in several cities, including London, New York and Paris.

The company also says it signed a deal with Malaysian property developer Jerantas to study the launch of a Harrods hotel in Kuala Lumpur. A timetable for the planned hotel openings has not been released.
