Home improvement retailer The Home Depot (Atlanta) is introducing a Spring Black Friday in preparation for the company’s biggest selling season.

“Spring is our Christmas,” says Craig Menear, executive vp for merchandising. “Traffic in our stores is at its highest during the spring season as customers look to take on outdoor projects to improve the appearance of their homes.”

The new promotion – a weekend of regional door buster deals – will include price breaks on popular spring products, including live goods and lawn care, outdoor power, eco-friendly gardening products, and patio and grills. The company plans to implement Spring Black Friday on a market-by-market basis based on climate by geography, beginning in the warmer, Southern and Western states on March 18, and in the colder, Northern states at a later date.

The Home Depot operates 2245 retail stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces, Mexico and China. The company’s fiscal 2009 sales were $66.2 billion
