Home Depot Sales Stay Positive

Reports second quarter results; updates fiscal year guidance

The Home Depot (Atlanta) saw its second quarter sales grow 1.8 percent to $19.4 billion. Same-store sales grew 1.7 percent, with comp sales for U.S. stores increasing 1 percent.

“Our second quarter sales reflect the third consecutive quarter of positive same store sales,” says Frank Blake, chairman and ceo. ‘We delivered solid results as we continue to build momentum with our merchandising transformation, supply chain enhancements and customer service initiatives.

Based on its year-to-date performance and expectations for the remainder of the fiscal year, the world's largest home improvement retailer updated its fiscal 2010 guidance and now expects sales to be up approximately 2.6 percent for the year.

Home Depot operates 2244 retail stores, including 1976 stores in the U.S., 179 in Canada, 80 in Mexico and 9 in China.
