Hypercity

ISP/VM+SD Store Design Competition Winner

Designers of the Hypercity market in Mumbai describe it as “a glimpse into the future of retailing in India.” The two-level, 120,000-square-foot store houses apparel, appliances, books, electronics, food, health and beauty, housewares, sporting goods, stationery and toys. It won an Award of Merit in the Big-Box Retailer category of the ISP/VM+SD International Store Design Competition.

Whitewashed walls and exposed ceilings give the space an uncomplicated feel. To help make the shopping experience enjoyable and interactive, a variety of “experience builders,” including demo kitchens and a gaming zone, were incorporated into the store.
