ISP Honors 10 in New York

Lifetime Legion of Honor designations go to 10 designers at ISP/VM+SD awards ceremony

On the evening of Jan. 14, 2002, when the Institute of Store Planners and VM+SD magazine announced the winners of their 2001 Store Design Awards competition, ISP also presented the first 10 of what will be annual Retail Design Legion of Honor awards for lifetime achievements in the industry.

Two of the winners were former retailers: Barbara D'Arcy, former director of creative services at Bloomingdale's; and Dudley Pope, former senior vp of store design and visual merchandising at Rich's, Atlanta (now a division of Federated Department Stores).

The other eight winners were from the store design firm field: Bob Daggett, founder of Daggett Architects (Los Angeles); Ed Hambrecht and Jim Terrell, co-founders of Hambrecht Terrell International (HTI, now FRCH, Cincinnati); Lawrence Israel of Copeland, Novak, Israel and Ken Walker, former ceo of The Walker Group (both now Walker Group/CNI); Raymond Lowey of Raymond Lowey/Snaith; Dominick Segrete of Tucci Segrete & Rosen (New York); Robert Young of Robert Young Associates (Dallas).
