Jack & Jones (Brande, Denmark) will open its first stores in America in coming months, with five stores at Brookfield Properties malls. The latter firm made that announcement in an e-mail to VMSD.com.

Founded in 1990 and operating 4000-plus stores globally, J&J will open its first U.S. store next month at Brookfield’s The Mall in Columbia (Columbia, Md.). Then, over the next year, locations at these malls will follow:

* Natick Mall, Natick, Mass. (menswear only)
* Staten Island Mall, N.Y.
* Christinia Mall, Newark, Del.
* Willowbrook, Wayne, N.J.

“The U.S. has always been an important and influential market for fashion,” said Anders Gam, Jack & Jones Brand Director. “Entering this retail market is a milestone for Jack & Jones, and we’re excited to introduce our unique blend of denim expertise and accessible fashion. We can’t wait to meet the U.S. consumers and share what Jack & Jones is all about: great denim, on-trend fashion and prices that make it easy to keep your style fresh.”

Said Erin McCarthy, VP of Leasing and Head of Retail Development at Brookfield Properties, “International retailers look to Brookfield Properties as a trusted partner when entering the U.S. market. We’re proud to welcome the first Jack & Jones location to our portfolio and know our communities will be excited for this too.”

J&J’s move into the U.S. market follows the retailer’s recent expansions in Canada and openings of European multi-brand concept stores. The retailer is a unit of the family-owned Bestseller business.
