Japanese dollar store Daiso (Hiroshima, Japan) will expand its presence on the U.S. East Coast, according to Forbes. The retailer already operates a number of stores on the West Coast, and will open its second store in the northeast in Edgewater, N.J.

With just 78 stores in the U.S., Daiso is tiny compared to its competitors, Dollar General and Dollar Tree, both with approximately 15,000 stores. The brand looked for East Coast cities with sizeable Asian populations for its new stores, hoping they might already be familiar with the brand thanks to its 4,000 outlets globally.
