The Kroger Co. (Cincinnati, Ohio), one of the nation's largest grocery retailers, is building its biggest store to date in the Anderson Towne Center in suburban Cincinnati. Construction is expected to start at the $10 million site in February.

The 104,000-square-foot store is expected to open this fall, and will be the largest of the chain's 2500 stores. Kroger now operates a 69,000-square-foot store across from the revamped center, which opened in the late 1980s.

The store will house a Fred Meyer Jewelry store, Starbucks, drive-up pharmacy window and photo lab. There will also be a fuel station, expanded selections of international foods, sushi and a salad bar.

“We are just trying to fit everything in,” says company spokesperson Art Wulfeck, adding that the expansion was driven by the area's booming population.
