Ethan Allen debuts furniture store for children

Published

on

Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. (Danbury, Conn.) opened its first Ethan Allen Kids store at the Westfarms Mall in Farmington, Conn. The store is the first of two planned juvenile furniture stores to open by the end of 2003.

The 2000-square-foot store features a variety of furnishings from casegoods, accents and upholstery to comforters, matching sheet sets and window treatments, displayed in lifestyle vignettes. At the heart of the store is the Ethan Allen Kids design center, where children and parents are invited to work with staff members to design a bedroom that matches the child's personal style. The store also houses a baby section with cribs, changing tables, sheet sets and blankets.

“As the success of the Ethan Allen Kids collection continues in the full-line stores, the Ethan Allen Kids store was developed to seize the opportunity to grow the business in juvenile furnishings,” said Farooq Kathwari, chairman and ceo of Ethan Allen Inc. “The concept behind the new Kids store is to offer a 'kid-friendly' environment.”

The multi-tiered marketing Kids campaign also features a store-in-store concept at Ethan Allen's full-line stores, as well as national advertising segments. The home furnishings manufacturer and retailer operates more than 300 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as 17 stores overseas.
