Kmart to Open On-site Convenience Stores

Just when you though mega-retailer Kmart already sold everything in its 600-store chain, the company announces plans to open convenience stores on its home turf. Although the retailer's supercenters and full-line stores already sell food, the new Kmart Express stores will contain food-purveyor formats. The company plans to open six test stores in Michigan and has identified 300 possible locations for future stores across the U.S., according to Chain Store Age.
