The Country Sampler Store

Published

on

At The Country Sampler Store, 90 percent of the floor space is devoted to booths rented to crafters who wish to display their products. The remaining ten percent is made up of Country Sampler merchandise, ranging from home decoratives to furniture and gourmet foods. The challenge for fixture supplier Dann Dee Display Fixtures, Niles, Ill., was to integrate the two divisions and create a practical, cost-effective display system. To replace old booths, which consisted of permanent partitions built on site, Dann Dee created a system of divider panels built off-site and assembled using standard panel clips, which allows for reconfiguration of booth sizes.

Lighting was designed to work with the existing drywall ceiling. In lieu of two-by-four fluorescent fixtures (which are cost-prohibitive to recess), designers inverted basic industrial-type fixtures and hung them with aircraft cable, producing a soft, evenly distributed indirect light source. Track lighting is used to accent the merchandise. The store decor uses a neutral color palette with burgundy and hunter green accents, with checkerboard flooring patterns and latticework at focal display areas.
