The Laboratory Institute of Merchandising (New York) will hold a day-long program of interactive special events on Oct. 13, 2004, to celebrate its 65th anniversary and the opening of its newest location at 216 East 45th St.

Elizabeth Marcuse, president of “The College for the Business of Fashion,” will receive a proclamation from the office of New York mayor Michael Bloomberg during the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Legendary designer Oleg Cassini will be honored at an exclusive cocktail reception that evening at the college’s main campus on 12 E. 53rd St.

The new 25,000-square-foot addition on 45th Street doubles the size of LIM’s total campus. The new location houses a 5000-square-foot library, an expanded student learning center, additional computer labs with a tech help desk, additional faculty and administrative offices, a student lounge and a suite of new classrooms.

“LIM College is in the midst of an exciting period of growth and this expansion marks not only our commitment to our students but to our industry and our fair city,” said Marcuse. “ We are thrilled to be partnering with these incredible industry leaders and the City of New York to celebrate both our anniversary and the expansion of our campus.”

LIM is a four-year private college accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It offers students a four-year Bachelor Degree combining liberal arts with hands-on exposure to marketing, visual merchandising, fashion merchandising, communications and retailing. A two-year Associate Degree program is also available.
