Mango Lands on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile

Mango (Barcelona) has opened a store on the ground floor of the Ritz-Carlton Residences on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The 11,000-square-foot space marks the brand’s first in Illinois; overall it operates about 60 stores in the U.S.

“Expanding Mango’s footprint to a city like Chicago is an important achievement for the entire Mango team and reaffirms our deep commitment to our U.S. clients,” said Daniel López, Mango’s Chief Expansion & Franchise Officer. “Our location on Chicago’s prestigious Magnificent Mile is a testament to the warm reception of our unique value proposition in the U.S. and marks another strategic move in strengthening our footprint across the country.”

The new store will offer the brand’s Woman and Man lines, all of which are created at the brand’s Barcelona headquarters by an atelier team of more than 500. In addition, the store will feature the retailer’s New Med concept, which evokes a Mediterranean home showcasing warm tones and neutral colors, combined with traditional, handcrafted and natural materials.

The store also incorporates several features paying homage to Chicago’s famed architectural legacy, including the brickwork along the walls; its horizontal layout, with concealed vertical joints that echoes the signature masonry of iconic Prairie-style houses; and geometric wall textiles inspired by a drawing by Eugene Masselink, a trusted apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright.

The Chicago store is one of about 20 new locales the brand opened in the U.S. this year, including its first outlets in Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. In addition, the company opened new stores in Connecticut and Ohio and increased its presence in California, with focus on the San Francisco area. It plans to continue bulking up its American presence, but has not yet offered specifics on where it is heading next.
