NOW CELEBRATING ITS 27th year, the 2024 Markopoulos Award (named in honor of the late Andrew Markopoulos of Dayton-Hudson Corp.) was presented to Andrew Bolton, OBE, Curator in Charge, The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, during a celebration in New York City this past Jan. 14, 2025.
Held at the Ralph Pucci Intl. showroom, the evening saw a record 200-plus guests in attendance to watch Mr. Bolton accept the annual award presented by VMSD magazine. Chosen by the Markopoulos Circle, which includes past winners of the award, the most recent recipient has curated some of The Met’s most visited exhibitions, including “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination (2018),” which brought more than 1.65 million visitors to The Met’s Fifth Avenue and Cloisters locations.
“In keeping with Mr. Markopoulos’s core values and the attributes he embodied, the Markopoulos Circle has expanded its vision beyond the boundaries of retail design to recognize those in all sectors of the art and design world who have made a contribution to the well-being of the creative spirit,” reads the official press release, penned by VMSD’s New York Editor Eric Feigenbaum, also a past recipient (2012) of the Markopoulos Award.
