McDonald’s (Chicago) had a strong 2022 and is planning to build on that momentum by adding 1900 new restaurants – including about 900 in China – in the coming year.

The fast-food giant’s top executive made that disclosure as part of the analysts’ call that followed the company’s release today (Jan. 31) of its results for fourth-quarter and full-year 2022.

More than 400 of its new units in the coming year will be in the U.S. and international operated markets, while the rest will be opened by developmental licensees.

“While we expect short-term inflationary pressures to continue in 2023, we remain highly confident in ‘Accelerating the Arches,’ which now includes a greater emphasis on new restaurant openings, McDonald’s President and CEO Chris Kempczinski said in the earnings release.

McDonald’s’ results included a global comparable-sales increase of more than 12 percent for the quarter and 10 percent-plus for the year.
