McDonald’s Corp. (Chicago) has named its first-ever Chief Restaurant Experience Officer to oversee a newly configured department focused on “facilitating horizontal ways of working and more integrated strategies across our menu categories,” the fast-food giant said in an announcement posted on its website.

“This will enable an end-to-end approach to the restaurant that improves the experience not just for our customers, but our restaurant teams and franchisee partners,” the company said.

To help make that happen, the McDonald’s Customer Experience Team (MCX) will become the Restaurant Experience Team. Named to lead this effort is Jill McDonald, currently President, International Operated Markets (IOM).

The team McDonald will oversee as of May 1 includes the executives responsible for operations, supply chain, franchising, development, restaurant design, delivery and Speedee Labs.

“Jill’s demonstrated success and focus on our key business metrics have helped unlock growth opportunities in IOM,” said Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski. “I’m confident Jill is ready to embrace this new challenge and lead this dynamic team. Jill will also resume overall responsibility as the lead for our Restaurant Platform, working closely with Brian Rice and the Technology team.”

Overall, McDonald’s operates more than 41,800 restaurants in 100-plus countries.
